The sparring between unbeaten WBA Middleweight "super" champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26) and Japan's Ryota Murata (4-0, 4) continued yesterday with the men spending more time in the ring together and further helping each other improve as the training camp they are sharing continued. From what we heard this time things were more competitive with Murata managing to find his rhythm and improve his footwork.
Not only are the two world class Middleweights training together but we've also heard that world class Super Middleweight George Groves (19-2, 15) has joined the training camp. From what we understand Groves will be sparring with Golovkin either today or tomorrow.
As with Golovkin, who faces Daniel Geale on July 26th, Groves also has a big fight coming up as he attempts to claim the European Super Middleweight title when he battles Christopher Rebrasse (22-2-3, 6) on September 20th. We're unsure on whether or not Murata and Groves will share a session with each other but it's amazing to think of the talent in this training camp and it's almost certain that everyone will make improvements.
Another man taking part in this camp is Jorge Linares (36-3, 23) who we believe will be staying at Big Bear until July 20th before moving to Las Vegas for more training in the US. Of course Linares is unlikely to spar much, if at all, with the bigger boys but with his experience, skills and knowledge he will certainly have added something to the camp and would likely have helped Murata get further accustomed to the American style.
