We have just been informed that Japanese Olympic champion Ryota Murata (4-0, 4) and his Mexican foe Adrian Luna Flores (17-2-1, 11) have both successfully made weight ahead of their Middleweight bout tomorrow evening.
The bout, made at a contracted 73.4KG, just under 162lbs saw Flores coming in bang on the allowable limit whilst Murata made the weight with to spare coming in at 73.1KG, just over 161lbs.
The weigh in, which took place earlier today, saw Murata looking very health and strong whilst Luna Flores looked healthy but a little bit like a man who had struggled to make the agreed limit, in fact from what we understand he had to weight in naked. What was also evident was the slight height advantage that Luna Flores had, which possibly made him look thinner and more gaunt that he perhaps is. In saying that, neither man looked bad or like they had been killing themselves to make the weight.
Ahead of the bout, which will be Murata's first 10 rounder, we have seen seen the Japanese fighter talk confidently about scoring a KO. Having seen the men today we'd not be shocked if that KO comes from a body shot. Of course the Mexican will be trying to use his reach to keep Murata away though even his long arms won't be able to protect all of his slender frame.
