Earlier today we were informed that WBC Youth Light Middleweight champion Ryosuke Maruki (9-3-1, 7) would be making the first defense of his title on July 26th at the Aioi Hall.
The bout will see Maruki take on limited Indonesian John Ruba (3-1, 1) who is expected to be another stoppage victory of the heavy handed Japanese 24 year old, who some have speculated could go on to fight for the OPBF title in the not too distance future.
For Maruki this will be the first defense of the title he won earlier this year, when he stopped Petchsuriya Singwancha in 8 rounds to avenge a previous defeat to the Thai. It's however a much easier bout than the one that saw him winning the title.
As for Ruba this will be his first bout outside of Indonesia, impressively however he has held two Indonesian titles and comes in to this bout with back-to-back wins in title contests. Of course those bouts have been at a much lower level than this, but the confidence of those wins will help him here.
