Earlier today the Japanese Boxing Federation (JBF) announced their award winners for 2015.
The JBF, which governs amateur boxing in Japan, saw an unsurprising MVP award being won by the excellent Ryomei Tanaka [田中亮明] who claimed a gold medal at the Rio Olympic test event last year. The fighter, the brother of WBO Minimumweight champion Kosei Tanaka (6-0, 3) [田中 恒成], really had a stand out year and is seen by some as a genuine medal contender come the Rio Olympics later this year.
Whilst we won't go through all the ward winners we would like to make a note of some of the other award winners including Middleweight Ren Umemura [梅村 錬] who won the "Effort Award" to top off a great 2015, whilst the fantastic Daisuke Narimatsu [成松大介] won the "Fighting Spirit Award".
The award ceremony will be on February 14th in Osaka.
