Teiken promoted Nicaraguan sensation Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (37-0, 31) is expected to return to action in February in either his native Nicaragua or Mexico. This bout, Gonzalez's first of 2014, is expected to be little more than a stay busy contest as he plans his assault on a Flyweight title holder.
Reports we've been reading suggest that Gonzalez will be very busy this year. After fighting in February he is then expected to return to Japan for a bout in March. Although no opponent has been named for that one we wouldn't be surprised if it was a very highly ranked fighter, maybe not a world champion but still a well established name.
Although not yet ranked by the WBA or WBC at Flyweight it is expected that Gonzalez will be given a top 3 ranking by both organisations when they next up date their rankings. This would allow him to take his pick as to which title he would like to go for.
Interestingly all the current Flyweight champions, apart from IBF champion Amnat Ruenroeng, would be on Gonzalez's radar. Juan Francisco Estrda (WBO and WBA super champion) is a man that Gonzalez beat in one of the best fights of 2012, Juan Carlos Reveco (WBA regular champion) is a man Gonzalez has often said he'd want to fight and with him being based in Argentina it'd be a great Latin American bout whilst Akira Yaegashi (WBC champion) would be an obvious bout to make due to Gonzalez's links to Japan.
What ever Gonzalez gets up to this year, we'll admit we're going to be excited by it.
