Over the past week we've seen odds emerge for this Saturday's WBC Flyweight title bout between the unbeaten champion Roman Gonzalez (40-0, 34) and Filipino challenger Rocky Fuentes (35-7-2, 20). On paper we suspect an exciting contest though it appears that it is widely seen as a mismatch with Gonzalez priced as the favourite at 1/25 giving a gambling an opportunity to "earn" 4% profit on any bet they put on the Nicaraguan sensation.
Fuentes, who is challenging for a world title for the second time in his career, has been priced at 10/1 to score an upset and claim a career defining victory. It's a huge ask but Fuentes has, mostly, been in good form in recent years with his most recent loss being a close decision in Thailand to Amnat Ruenroeng.
For those interested in the draw one online bookmakers has it priced at 25/1.
In regards to the rounds of the fight the over/under has been set at 9.5 rounds. For the bout to go more than 9.5 rounds the odds are 7/4 whilst betting on the under is 2/5. This is an interesting market considering that Fuentes has a reputation for being a tough guy whilst Gonzalez has been slicing through opponents in recent bouts having stopped his last 6 foes, with only one of those 6 actually going beyond 9.5 rounds.
We suspect the under is the way to bet here if you're wanting a return though it's still not going to be a huge win if it comes out.
