Earlier today, November 16th, Filipino Flyweight Rocky Fuentes (35-7-2, 20) arrived in Japan ahead of his upcoming bout against unbeaten Nicaraguan sensation Roman Gonzalez (40-0, 34). The bout, for the WBC Flyweight title, will be Fuentes's second world title bout this year, following a loss to Amnat Ruenroeng in Thailand, and it appears he is ready for the boat with recent training pictures of the Filipino showing him to be in sensational condition.
For Gonzalez, who has been in Japan for quite some time now, this will be his first defense of the WBC Flyweight title that he won back in September when he stopped Japan's very own Akira Yaegashi in a fantastic performance. The quick return to the ring for the champion will see him fighting for a 4th time this year whilst Fuentes will be fighting just his second bout of 2014.
Going in to the bout many seem to view it as a total mismatch though we;ll admit we're still looking forward to it with an expectation of real action between two really exciting fighters.
For those wanting to watch the bout it will be televised on WOWOW in Japan for certain, and we also suspect Canal 4 in Nicaragua will be carrying the bout. The best news however is that BeIN Sports Espanol will carry the fight in the US, at least that's what has been reported by American boxing write Dan Rafael, fingers crossed that it will be easy to watch for international fans as WOWOW has been decided difficult for international viewers in the past.
