Tomorrow fight fans in Tokyo get the chance to see model-come-boxer Riyako Goshi (3-4) [郷司 利也子] return to the ring for her first fight in more than 13 months, as she takes on the win-less Natsuki Tarui (0-4) [樽井 捺月]. On the paper the bout won't garner much, if any, attention however the Japanese press have managed to give the bout some attention due to the looks of Goshi, who has often managed to get media inches due to her attractiveness and curvaceous figure.
The Kawasaki Nitta gym fighter, dubbed the "Geek Idol Boxer" in some circles, has spent much of her time out of the ring recovering from a serious arm injury, as well as various non-boxing related activities. For her ring return she has dropped from being a fully blown Light Flyweight into a Minimumweight, and came in just over the minimumweight limit, at 105¼lbs. Although above the Minimumweight limit Goshi is under the contracted limited of 105½lbs for the bout. Although coming down in weight Goshi herself seems to feel the new weigh will suit her.
Tarui on the other hand was well under the contracted limit, coming in 103¾lbs. Although well under the limit this was a career heaviest for her with her typical weight being under 100lbs. Given that she's moving up in weight we suspect she'll be bullied by Goshi, who may need a win to remain relevant in the sport following back to back losses last year.
For fans interested in watching this bout it will be available in person at the Korakuen Hall tomorrow as part of Dangan Ladies Vol 2 and it will also be featured on Boxingraise on Thursday as part of their subscription service for user of the service.
