A recent picture posted by Japanese Heavyweight title contender Nobuhiro Ishida (26-10-2, 10) shows that he isn't the only Japanese fighter currently training at the world famous Wild Card Gym in the US. The gym, run Freddie Roach and used by a list of world champions including Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao, has also seen Rikki Naito (11-0, 5) there training ahead of his recently announce Japanese Super Featherweight title defense.
Naito, who will be defending his title in February against the unbeaten Masayuki Ito (16-0-1, 7), was pictured alongside Ishida in a recent blog post though a blog from Cassius Naito, Rikki's father, states that he has actually been there for a round week with a picture of Rikki in the Wildcard from December 3rd.
The talented Naito has been tipped for the top by those in the know in Japan and getting world class training at the Wild Card will certainly do his career no harm. We're not suggesting that a single camp Stateside will turn him into a world beater but it will certainly help with his development and the quality of sparring at the gym will be much better than he'd get at his father's gym.
