On Tuesday there will be an interesting card in the Philippines featuring the likes of Rene Dacquel (12-3-1, 4) and Warlito Parrenas (22-6, 19). The big talking point however seems to be Indonesian visitor Ricky Manufoe (23-21-2, 10) who has failed toe make the 114lb contracted weight for his bout with the always fun to watch Ardin Diale (25-9-3, 13). As a punishment for coming in over-weight Manufoe will be forced to wear 10lb gloves for the fight against the talented Filipino fighter.
The punishment is often one used in the Philippines and was enforced on a young Manny Pacquiao, who incidentally suffered his first loss whilst wearing bigger gloves than his opponent.
The bout will be Diale's 5th of the year, and his third since being stopped by Koki Eto in an OPBF title fight back in June. Since the loss to Eto we've seen Diale in great form with back-to-back stoppage wins over Renerio Arizale and Jenny Boy Buca, with both taking taking notable damage in the fights. For Manufoe it will be his 4th bout of the year, and his first since being stopped by Rusalee Samor back in June.
Although the weight is an advantage we wouldn't imagine it will actually help Manufoe here given that he looked awful against Samor and has never traveled well with no wins on the road so far in his 46 fight career.
