This one comes from Mexico as Filipino fighter Renan Trongco (16-4, 9) gets a shot at IBF Light Flyweight champion Javier Mendoza (22-2-1, 18) in one of the first world title bouts of the new year. The bout is a very tough one for the 26 year old Trongco, dubbed "Little Pacquiao", though he will go into the bout with genuine confidence on the back of a 4 fight unbeaten streak and as the reigning WBC International Flyweight champion.
For Mendoza this will be his first defence. He won the title last September when he beat Ramon Garcia Hirales in a thriller, incidentally on the same card as the brilliant bout between Orlando Salido and Terdsak Kokietgym, On the performance against Garcia Hirales we would have to favour Mendoza however Trongco has been fighting at Flyweight and may feel he's the strong man in what will be a very interesting bout on January 10th.
Prior to the fight we will, of course, have an in depth preview.
