Tomorrow fight fans in Osaka will see OPBF Light Middleweight champion Ratchasi Sithsaithong (8-3, 6) making his first defense of the title, as he takes on Japanese challenger Jumbo Oda Nobunaga Shoten Petagine (10-4, 8).
Today the two men weighed in for the bout and both men made the 154lb limit for the contest.
The champion, the much shorter man, came in well under the limit at 153.25lbs and looked flabby even at that weight. Despite looking in less than amazing condition he seemed confident and said he has been practicing hard to defend the title, something people have been struggling with with this particular title in recent years. He also stated that Jumbo really was Jumbo, talking about the height of the challenger.
The challenger, who has amazingly fought much of his career at 140lbs, was also under the limit at 153.25lbs. He sounded confident ahead of his first title fight, and stated he would be reclaiming the belt for the Mutoh gym who had the title when Takayuki Hosokawa was the champion. It is however a huge ask for the little known Japanese fighter to win here.
