During the last week British promoter Fran Warren announced a WBO Super Flyweight world title eliminator to take place in Liverpool. The bout, to find a challenger for the winner of the upcoming bout between Naoya Inoue (9-0, 8) [井上 尚弥] and Mexican David Carmona (20-2-5, 8).
Whilst it's always interest to know who the top contenders are to top fighters this bout is particularly interesting to us as it will involve Thailand's Petchbarngborn Kokietgym (38-7-1, 18) [เพชรบางบอน ก่อเกียรติยิม], who will be up against former IBF Bantamweight champion Paul Butler (21-1, 12).
The bout will be the first time that Petchbarngborn has fought in Europe. It should be noted that he is 5-4 outside of Thailand, though that breaks down to being a 4-0 record in Laos and a 1-4 record in Japan, so it's fair to say he's not travelled amazing well.
For Butler it's a great chance to move towards become a 2-division world champion, but the reality is that few would give him any chance to over-come the Monster, and it's likely he'd have to wait until 2017, at the earliest, for a bout against the Kanagawa man.
