This coming Wednesday we'll see WBO Light Flyweight champion Kosei Tanaka (9-0, 5) [田中恒成] defending his title for the second time, as he takes on Thai challenger Palangpol CP Freshmart (14-1, 8) [คู่เอก พลังพล ซีพีเฟรชมาร์ท].
Yesterday Palangpol took part in a public work out, albeit not a very interesting one much to the annoyanace of Tanaka's promoter Kiyoshi Hatanaka.
The Thai started by talking about wanting to win and then get the chance to eat some delicious rice in Japan, a rather strange start to the who event, which then saw him praising Tanaka and the champion'sstrength, power and skill. Despite that priase the challenger was confident, and it seemed thta he was confident of winnign due to his hard training ahead of the fight.
In regards to the actual training the Thai spent 2 rounds shadow boxing before 2 rounds of hitting the mitts, with both exercises done in a very light and easy fashion as he looked to not show any of his cards for the fight. Whilst not all fighters do like to go all out in their public training this seemed particularly limited and it was possibly a case of playing some head games with the champion's team.
Mr Hatanaka was was clearly displeased by the session, saying that Palangpol showed nothing in the session. Despite that the head of the Hatanaka gym seemed confident of getting to know what Palangpol had from watching footage of the Thai, and knows that he is a solid puncher, though he's thinking that his star fighter will stop him in 6 rounds.
