On May 9th the Ohashi stable announced the main event of their next card.
The bout is an unsurprising one as Japanese Featherweight champion Satoshi Hosono (25-2-1, 19) will take on #1 challenger Rikiya Fukuhara (29-7-1, 21). We did expect this one to happen after Fukuhara's recent victory over Jaderes Padua, after all Fukuhara did effectively call out Hosono, who only won the title back in April when he stopped Yuki Ogata.
The Honsono/Fukuhara bout will be a second meeting between the two men with Hosono holding a 7th round TKO over Fukuhara from 2012.
As well as the main event we have news about several other bouts from this card. One of those will feature Seiichi Okada (17-4, 10), who is apparently scheduled to fight Hirotsugu Yamamoto (16-10-2, 2), one will feature OPBF Minimumweight champion Ryuji Hara (17-0, 10), who we believe will be defending his title though no opponent has yet been named, and one will feature the unbeaten Ryo Matsumoto (10-0, 8) who will hopefully be facing his second notable opponent.
The card will be the "49th Battle Phoenix" and be held at the Korakuen Hall on June 23rd with other bouts likely to be added closer to the date.
