Tomorrow Japanese fans in Tokyo will get the chance to see world ranked Super Bantamweight contender Yukinori Oguni (17-1-1, 6) [小國 以載] return to the ring for his second fight of the year, as he takes on JP Macadumpis (11-6-1, 5) of the Philippines.
The bout, which will be shown on boxingraise on Wednesday, looks like a bit of a mismatch on paper but the idea of the bout is to keep Oguni sharp with the 28 year old admitting he was seeking a world title fight and was hoping to secure one in the near future, with some suggesting he may get a fight with IBF champion Jonthan Guzman in the near future. A big sep up from this bout, and his recent win over Mike Tawatchai, but something that Oguni seems to feel confident about
Although Oguni is the favourite Macadumpis hasn't traveled for no reason and will be looking to extend a 2-fight winning run, which has seen the the Filipino claim a Lightweight title! Notably the Filipino is coming down in weight however he's certainly got a right to feel like this bout is a good opportunity to put himself in the window for other notable bouts.
