Earlier today in Tokyo fans saw the weigh in for tomorrow's Japanese title triple header at the Korakuen Hall. Among the fighters who took part in that weigh in were the two men involved in the Japanese Super Bantamweight title bout, defending champion Yukinori Oguni (14-1, 4) and first time title challenger Gakuya Furuhashi (17-5, 7).
On the scales both men were pretty much on the limit though they did look rather different with Oguni having a very clear height advantage, reportedly 3", though having a much thinner looking body than Furuhashi, who had been training in Mexico for this bout.
This will be the first defense of the title by Oguni, who claimed the belt late last year when he narrowly defeated Yasutaka Ishimoto, though Oguni did manage to make 3 defenses as the OPBF champion earlier in his career. That OPBF reign came to an end when he was stopped by Shingo Wake. As for Furuhashi, this will be his first title bout after having previous having a fight with Hidenori Otake cancelled late following a rib injury to Otake.
