This week has seen speculation that the ALA debut American show, scheduled for November this year, could be a double header featuring not only WBO Light Flyweight champion Donnie Nietes (33-1-4, 19) but also WBA Featherweight Undisputed champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21).
Although details of the card are scarce we are expecting Nietes to be confirmed for the card in the coming weeks as he attempts to show off his skills the US based Filipino fans. It would seem very likely that he would be facing a Mexican opponent with very few noteworthy Americans fighting at 108lbs.
As for Donaire, who has been happy to encourage the speculation, it would seem likely that he'd be fighting WBA "regular" champion Nicholas Walters in what would be a a real shoot out between two very heavy handed fighters.
We believe that this show is still being put together but if ALA can get both Nietes and Donaire on the same card that would be fantastic news for the general boxing fans and especially for the Filipino fans who would be getting to see two of the elite Filipino fighters on the same show. Whilst it's perhaps not the Filipino dream pairing of Pacquiao and Donaire it's not a bad combination of top Filipino's and should be able to bring a bit of additional publicity to Nietes who has often been over-looked by western boxing fans.
