Although the conference was to help promote the up coming show it ended up becoming the Nobuhiro Ishida (27-10-2, 11) show with Ishida doing his best to humiliate and frustrate Japanese Heavyweight champion Kyotaro Fujimoto (11-1, 6). Part of the humiliation was showing off a "home made" belt that was used to mock Fujimoto who did his best to ignore Ishida who was trying to play mind games.
For those who remember these two men fought a year ago when Fujimoto took a narrow decision win over Ishida in what was Ishida's Heavyweight debut. Since then both men have gone 2-0 (1), against the same opponents, and have been on a collision course helped by Ishida's taunts.
From what we understand the winner of this bout is likely to face the fast rising Joseph Parker in a bout for the OPBF Heavyweight title later in the year. That's a really tough ask for whoever wins on Thursday but does make for an interesting match up and payday down the line.
