Earlier today saw Green Tsuda host a pretty major press conference. Unlike most press conference this one didn't have one major announcement, but instead it had 3 things to mention.
Two of those 3 announcements we regarding new members of the gym. They announced that Shindo Go, the WBC female Flyweight champion, had transferred to to their gym ahead of her upcoming title defense against Arely Mucino. They also announce that former amateur star Kazuki Tanaka had signed with them ahead of his professional test on September 28th.
For international fans however the key announcement was regarding the ever popular Nobuhiro Ishida (26-10-2, 10), who recently scored his first win as a heavyweight by taking a decision over Frenchman David Radeff.
Sadly whilst the announcements regarding Tanaka and Go are set in stone the news regarding Ishida was more flimsy.
The first part of the announcement regarding Ishida was a congratulations for his 8 round win over Radeff. The second part was that Green Tsuda will continue in their attempt to try and get a rematch between Ishida and Japanese Heavyweight champion Kyotaro Fujimoto for New Years Eve. Sadly whilst it's clear that Ishida and his team really do want that rematch it's also clear that Fujimoto isn't going to just sign up for it. That means that Green Tsuda will probably have to make a large bid to secure the rematch, or hope that the JBC order it as a mandatory title fight.
Whilst it's a little bit disappointing that we've not seen the bout agreed to as of yet it's great that Ishida's team are chasing the bout and trying to force Fujimoto to accept their challenge. We're hoping that with some luck Fujimoto will agree to the rematch though we know he'll try and get what he can out of Ishida's team before an agreeement is reached.
