Earlier this year we saw teak tough Japanese warrior Nihito Arakawa (29-6-1, 17) [荒川 仁人] claim the WBO Asia Pacific Lightweight title. Earlier today it was announced that he would be back in action on July 11th, to make the first defense of his title.
The popular Tokyo brawler, who famously fought Omar Figueroa in a thrilling contest a few years ago, will be defending his Regional title against Filipino challenger Marbon Bodiongan (14-5-2, 11), who returns to Japan for the first time since his 2016 stoppage loss to Masaru Sueyoshi.
On paper the bout looks like a bit of a mismatch, but it's hard to imagine the bout being anything less than thrilling, with both men having fun styles that should gel well.
Fore those interested the bout will be on the same card as the recently announced WBO Atomweight title bout between defending champion Nao Ikeyama (18-3-1, 5) [池山直] and determined challenger Saemi Hanagata (13-6-2, 7) [花形 冴美], which the show slowly becoming more and more interesting.
