Yesterday saw the weigh in for the bout.
On the scales Nietes was 107.8lbs, just inside the divisional limit. On the other hand Alejo was 107.4lbs, well inside the divisional limit.
The champion, who won the title more than 4 years ago, will be seeking his 8th defense and hopes that a win will help him move towards Flyweight super fights with the likes of Roman Gonzalez. As for the challenger this will be his first world title shot and could well see him go from "unknown" to world champion, though he would need a career best performance.
Nietes looks to make Stateside statement!
