Although relatively unknown outside of Japan WBO Atomweight champion Nao Ikeyama (18-3-2, 5) [池山 直] has making waves and breaking through stereotypes, whilst also reigning as a world champion well into her late 40's.
The success of Ikeyama, who has has defended the title 5 times since winning it in May 2014, has seen her catch the eye of the folks in charge of NHK, who had done a documentary on her.
The documentay, which will be aired at 11:30am on February 4th on NHKG, lasts 24 minutes and is entitled "Quiet Tigers - Okayama Domestic Oldest Champ Nao Ikeyama". It looks at Ikeyama's success at her current age and will bring her some serious attention across the country.
For those unaware NHK is similar to the BBC in the UK and has a licence fee paying for it and is available across the whole country. That alone shows how big this documentary could be for Ikeyama's career.
