The popular former fighter Nobuhiro Ishida retired from active fighting in 2015, following a split decision loss to Kyotaro Fujimoto in a Japanese Heavyweight title fight. Following his retirement he has remained in the sport and opened his own boxing gym, the "Neyagawa Ishida Boxing Club" (NIBC).
Originally the NIBC was only an amateur boxing gym, until recently when it joined the professional leagues and became part of the Japanese Professional Boxing Association (JPBA).
The gym held an event earlier today to celebrate their professional affiliation and it was a notable event with more than 200 guests, including keys figures from the boxing scene such as Hozumi Hasegawa. The event seemed to make not only the NIBC turning professional but also the success of Ishida since starting his gym, showing just how popular he remains among the Osakan fight scene.
It's now known that 3 members of the gym have already got professional licenses, with another expected to gain one in May, and the first professional bout by a fighter from the NIBC will take place on April 2nd in Osaka, showing the gym aren't going to be waiting long for their fighters to make their mark.
