We have been informed that the negotiation period for the WBA Super Flyweight world title fight between Kohei Kono (30-8-1, 13) and Koki Kameda (33-1, 18) has been extended until April 6th.
Originally the period was set to end on April 4th though it seems that the window has been extended by 48 hours. This would make us think a deal has almost been agreed and that both parties are closing in on an agreement.
From what we understand it is highly likely that the bout will end up going to the US though it would seem likely that Watanabe gym are trying to secure the best terms for their man rather than going straight to purse bids and being massively outbid by the financial might of Al Haymon, who advises Kameda, and the PBC vehicle that has quickly become a significant part of boxing in the US
