Earlier this week saw an official date set for the long awaited WBC Flyweight title fight between Thailand's Nawaphon Por Chokchai (36-0, 28) [นวพล นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น] and Mexican Juan Hernandez (33-2, 24).
Originally the bout was slated for a January date but due to various scheduling issues that has been pushed back an we now know the bout will take place on March 4th in Thailand.
We've not yet been made aware of what venue will be hosting the bout but we were informed earlier this year that the bout would have to be held in an indoor arena due to an agreement between the two camps and would have to be held at a particular time of day to suit Mexican TV channels, who would be wanting to show the bout.
Interestingly the winner would have several other major Asian fighters snapping at their ankles for their first defense. That would include OPBF champion Daigo Higa, Noknoi Sitthiprasert, Toshiyuki Igarashi, Muhammad Waseem and Takuya Kogawa who will all be snaiffing at the eventual champion for a bout in late 2017.
