This weekend we'll get the chance to see WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (13-0, 11) [井上 尚弥] will make his US debut, and look to make his 6th defense of the title as takes on once beaten American challenger Antonio Nieves (17-1-2, 9).
Yesterday the two fighters too part in the press conference for their bout where there was aroun 170 journalists from all over the world, including the US, Thailand, Japan, Nicaragua and Mexico.
Introduced by K2 promotions Tom Loeffler in glowing fashion Inoue told fans he was excited about making his US debut and didn't want it to be a one off. Although clearly under pressure to shine in the fight on Saturday he seemed calm and incredibly motivated, knowing this is a huge chance to show the world how good he is, osmething that was echoed by promoter Hideyuki Ohahsi, who described the fight as a tremendous way to get noticed.
Although the win isn't a given, the view in the eyes of many is that Inoue will shine and be invited back to the US for big fights in 2018, whilst also making an appearance back in Japan this coming December as he looks to grow his incredible reputation.
