A few days ago we reported that WBC Light Flyweight world champion Naoya Inoue (7-0, 6) had been sparring with former foe Ryoichi Taguchi (20-2-1, 8). Whilst Taguchi has since had his next bout announce, a WBA Light Flyweight contest with current champion Alberto Rossel (32-8-0-1, 13), we're still awaiting to see what Inoue's next contest has in store.
Despite the wait for future announcements regarding Inoue's next bout we know he's not relaxing and he's been spending more time in the gym. That has included him sparring 4 rounds with OPBF Bantamweight champion Ryosuke Iwasa (18-1, 11).
Whilst we know Inoue is set to vacate his WBC title at 108lbs there appears to be no clear confirmation on where his next bout will be. We know it will be above 108lbs though whether it's at 112lbs or 115lbs still in the air. The fact he's holding his own with Iwasa would suggest however that the future will be at 118lbs, if not higher.
Whilst we're unsure on Inoue's next bout we're also unsure on what Iwasa's next move is. We're hoping a world title bout will be in his immediate future but it seems likely that his next bout will an OPBF title defense, hopefully against a decent quality opponent.
