Later today fight fans get a female treat as 3-weight world champion Naoko Fujioka (15-1, 6) [藤岡 奈穂子] takes on WBC female Flyweight champion Jessica Chavez (27-4-3, 4) in an attempt to become Japan's first 4-weight world champion.
Yesterday the two fighters took part in their weigh in and both made the Flyweight limit.
Fujioka, who last fought at Bantamweight, has dropped two weight classes for this bout and weighed in at 111¾lbs, the lightest she's been since her 2014 loss to Susi Kentikian, in her only loss and her only previous Flyweight title fight. The weight loss, more than 5lbs, is a notable loss but not one that seems to have take a significant toll on Fujioka's body with the fighter not looking gaunt at all.
For Chavez who came in at the limit of 112lbs, the weight is a consistent one through her career and she has typically been between 111lbs and 112lbs. The champion looked incredibly confident and happy at the weigh in and looked like she was very sure of her self coming into her 4th defense of the title.
