Yesterday fans in Japan had the chance to see the highly regarded Nana Yoshikawa (6-1, 4) [好川 菜々] score a stay busy win Osaka against a Thai opponent.
The bout looked like a mismatch from the off with Yoshikawa using her skills to easily land shots on her Thai foe and a right hand from Yoshikawa quickly sent the Thai down inside the first round. To her credit the visitor rose to her feet, but it was clear that she lacked the skill or durability to last long with the talented Yoshikawa.
In the second round the Thai was down again, after just 26 seconds. This the referee had seen enough and stopped the bout, rather than continue what was a really big mismatch.
Now the target for Yoshikawa is to get a world title fight, and we suspect to see her in such a fight later this year though a big question will be who again, with her team needing to carefully plan her next contest, or it could be that the 35 year old comes up against someone simply too good and too experienced for her, like she did a year ago against Anabel Ortiz.
