Tomorrow Japanese fans in Osaka will get the chance to see the next "Gouken" card. On that card will be former world title challenger Nana Yoshikawa (5-1, 3) [好川 菜々], who faces a Thai opponent, who's name we sadly don't have at the moment.
Today both Yoshikawa and her opponent made weight for the bout, which is being regarded as a "world title prelude" for Yoshikawa, with the intent being to get her a second world title fight later in the year.
Last year Yoshikawa challenged the fantastic WBA female Minimumweight champion Anabel Ortiz, and was widely beaten by the Mexican. Now, a year on from that loss, Yoshikawa is looking for her second successive win and is hoping that her training following the loss to Ortiz will help her claim a world title in the near future.
At 37 Yoshikawa hasn't got much left of her career, but she's in great shape, was a very accomplished amateur and has the desire to prove herself at the top level.
