Tomorrow Japanese fans will be able to see Masayoshi Nakatani (14-0, 8) [中谷 正義] defending his OPBF Lightweight title, as he takes on Filipino challenger Ryan Sermona (20-8-1, 13). Today the two men weighed in for the bout, and men managed to make weight for the contest.
Nakatani, who is hunting his 8th defense of the title, made the 135lb limit dead on and looked in great shape, though he did apparently have some issues with the limit. He had to lose 7KG's, or around 15.5lbs, for the bout and squeezing his 5'11" frame into the Lightweight limit is a problem, is a manageable problem for now, but it's clear that he's probably going to move up in weight at some point in the near future.
As for the much shorter Sermona he was comfortably under the limit, weighing in at 134.5lbs. He looked much shorter than the champion, who is admittedly huge for a Lightweight, but looked confident of picking up the win. For the challenger this willbe his third bout in Japan, though he is stil llooking for his first win on Japanese soil.
Sadly for fans wanting to watch this outside of Japan it does seem to be impossible, with the only service offering the bout being limited to users of Japanese mobile phone networks, and comes courtesy of KTV's online delivery system.
