Earlier today saw the East Japan Boxing Association announce their award winners for the month of September.
The MVP for the month was former OPBF Super Flyweight champion Takuma Inoue (9-0, 2) [井上 拓真], who got the award following his brilliant win over 4-time world title challenger Hiroyuki Kudaka (25-17-1, 11) [久高寛之]. The talented Inoue, the younger brother of world champion Naoya Inoue, really shone in an exciting and action parked performance that saw him leave Hisataka a bloodied mess, en route to a clear decision win.
Takuma wasn't the only Inoue to win an award, as Japanese Light Middleweight champion Takeshi Inoue (11-0-1, 6) [井上 岳志] claimed the Fighting Spirit award, following his win over Riku Nagahama (7-1-1, 3) [長濱 陸]. The bout saw Inoue stopping Nagahama in 8 rounds to claim his first defense of the title, and move towards unifying the Japanese and OPBF titles.
The Newcomer award was won by Japanese Youth Flyweight champion Junto Nakatani (13-0, 10) [中谷 潤人], who beaten Seigo Yuri Akui (11-1-1, 7) [ユーリ阿久井 政悟] in the 6th round of a genuinely thrilling contest to decide the Youth champion.
The three fighters will be given an awarding ceremony on October 2nd, at the Korakuen Hall.
