Koseki, the WBC female Atomweight champion, managed to stop Thailand's previously unbeaten Angor Onesongchaigym (5-1, 3) with less than 20 seconds to go to in round 9 to secure this victory, a victory that sees her tying the Japanese national record of 13 successful title defenses.
Athough Koseki recognised her own achievement she did down play it and noted that there is a big difference between men and woman, paying a lot of respect to Yoko Gushiken, who previously held the record by himsel, in the process.
As for the bout it was fast paced, though Angor simply couldn't cope with the pressure of Koseki who once again showed she was a rough and tough fighting machine.
It now seems likely that Koseki will look to record her 14th defense later this year and hopefully set a new record in the process. Although men and women are different any record that Koseki sets could be used as bench mark for future champions of either gender wanting to set their sights on historic achievements.
