The second session of boxing this past Thursday featured a host of Aian fighters across multiple weight classes as the tournament continued to move towards the medal stages.
At 56KG's we saw an all Asian bout as Kazakh Kairat Eraliyev narrowly over-came Azeri boxer Cavid Chelebiyev to move into the round of 16. He joins Thailand's Chatchai Butdee, Erdenbaat Tsendbaatar and Korean Sang Myeong Ham as the Asian's looking to medal in the division.
At 64KG's the Asian's had mixed successes. Azeri fighter Lorenzo Sotomayor over-came Ukrainian hopeful Volodymyr Matviychuk with a unanimous decision whilst Kazakh Abylaykhan Zhusupov was beaten with ease by the classy Pat McCormack of Great Britain.
In the 69KG division we lost another Azeri as Parviz Bagirov came up short against Frenchman Souleymane Cissokho, however Thailand's Sailom Ardee got past Simeon Chamov of Bulgaria. In another bout in the division Kazakh Daniyar Eleusinov got revenge over Britain as he easily defeated Joshua Kelly, in sensational performance.
At 81KG's we saw more success for Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Azeri Teymur Mammadov shut out Holland's Peter Mullenberg whilst Kazakh Adilbek Niyazimbetov beat Mikhail Dauhaliavets Belarus.
