Although we're not 100% sure on the circumstances surrounding things it appears that Korean Min Wook Kim (11-1, 8) is no longer the OPBF Light Welterweight champion.
The Korean, ranked #9 by the WBC, had made 4 defenses of the title prior to the OPBF's recent ranking update and now appears to be off the radar. A shame really considering his exciting style and the fact that he seemed the most likely man to start a re-emergence of boxing in Korea.
Despite no longer being the champion there is sources reporting that Kim is set to make his US debut. We're holding our breathe and hoping this will happen though it's become rare in recent years for Korean fighters to really make a name for themselves in the states, in fact the only current one is Ji-Hoon Kim.
If Min Wook Kim does make his US debut in coming months we'd advise keeping an eye out for this talented and exciting individual who is seriously worth watching. Win or lose Kim will be in some exciting bouts and hopefully get the chance to prove his ability on American TV. Without trying to sound dismissive of his talent, he's the sort of fighter than ESPN would love with his action, aggression and power which are all made for TV.
