Earlier this month OPBF Super Featherweight champion Masayuki Ito (18-1-1, 8) [伊藤 雅雪] announced that he would be returning to the ring on April 28th.
Details of Ito's bout are scarce at the moment, though it's presumed that it will take place at the Korakuen Hall, where his last 20 bouts have been, and will take place on a Dangan card. If that's right then it will act as a co-feature of a show that is already set to feature a Japanese Welterweight title fight between reigning champion Nobuyuki Shindo (17-3-1, 6) [新藤 寛之] and heavy handed mandatory challenger Toshio Arikawa (12-4, 10) [有川 稔男] .
Ito had a memorable 2015, despite suffering a lose in his first bout of the year, suffering a decision loss to Rikki Naito. Following that loss Ito claimed the OPBF title, stopping Dai Iwai, and recorded his first defense of the title, out pointing Shingo Eto.
Ito has been out of the ring since beating Eto last December but with a return planned for April there is a chance we will see him in action 3 times before the year is out. Hopefully that will see him in the ring with fighters like Kenichi Ogawa, Daiki Kaneko or even a rematch with Masao Nakamura before the year is over.
