The Ioka gym have had a troubling few months but still have one or two gems left in their stable, one of which is OPBF Lightweight champion Masayoshi Nakatani (15-0, 9) [中谷 正義], who confirmed on Instagram that he would be back in action on February 24th, in the next defense of his Oriental title.
Little was given away by the fighter himself, but sources have revealed that the bout will take place at the Edion Arena Osaka, in Osaka city on a show promoted by Ioka gym.
At the time of writing no opponent has been named, or even linked to Nakatani, but the bout will be his 9th title defense and will likely see him extending a reign that began more than 4 years ago. He has stated he's wanting bigger challenges, and could be matched with a genuinely top tier regional opponent, but even then we suspect that the rangy boxer wants more and will begin to push his team more and more into getting him international level opponents to try and help him secure a world title fight.
As with the main even the details of the card in general are sparse, with no under-card details yet to be revealed, despite the fact the show is only around 6 weeks away. Hopefully details will be given this coming week, though given how little is currently available it's hard ot be sure what we will, and won't be getting from the Ioka gym in 2018.
