The talented Nakatani, who began his career 6-0 (5) had won his last 4 bouts by decision and had seen some fans suggest he wasn't as heavy handed as they had first thought. Today however he proved his ability to damage opponents.
Early on Nakatani made the most of his razor like jab, piercing the guard of the challenger who was often left hitting air and being countered by vicious right uppercuts. Sadly for the challenger it quickly evident that he could win the fight at range and was also unable to win up close, where those uppercuts were crunching into his face.
In round 4 Nakatani upped the pace and it was clear that Murata had no answer other than to try and survive. The challenger was again given a beating round 5 as he began to show real signs of damage around his face.
Following the two big rounds from Nakatani the doctor took a hard look at Murata before stopping him in the corner.
From what we under-stand the doctor stopped the bout due to a suspected issue with Murata's eye.
After the bout Nakatani stated that he was wanting to focus on moving towards a world title fight. At the moment it seems likely he'll have to wait, though it's clear that his focus is on moving up through the ranks and testing himself against the very best in the sport, like stable mate Kazuto Ioka.
