To begin with the bout looked interesting, with Morales looking comfortable and confident in the ring. In fact it looked like he was going to be teaching Masaki a few new trick and counter the Japanese fighter with a level of patience that Masaki hadn't seen in his previous 8 bouts. Instead however Masaki landed a perfect shot, totally taking the legs away from Morales with a right hand that laned perfectly on the liver.
Morales, to his credit, looked like he was going to get up, but it seemed like the pain was too much, and he was down, catching his breath well after the bout was stopped, and in fact Morales spent several minutes on his stool looking for a deep breath.
It seems like a title bout is next for Masaki, and the OPBF title would likely be the best option right now for the talented and young Japanese fighter. He will however have wished this bout had gone a little longer, and that he has spent a bit more time in the ring, having only had 12 rounds combined, from his 3 bouts in 2017.
