On Sunday Japanese fans at the Sumiyoshi Ward Center had the chance to see several bouts of note .One of those saw unbeaten youngster Masahiro Sakamoto (7-0, 4) [坂本 真宏] claim a career best win, as he narrowly out pointed the "better than his record" Atsushi Aburada (10-10, 6) [油田 京士].
The unbeaten 25 year old started the bout well, land powerful 1-2's in the opening round. The second round saw Aburada coming back well as landed a few jabs, but it was another round for the unbeaten man who found a home for his straight right hand. Despite the good start for Sakamoto the bout began to turn in round 3 with Aburada upping the pace and forcing Sakamoto to fight his fight, with round 4 seeing Aburada have yet more success.
Sakamoto seemed to realise that Aburada was having success and fired back hard in rounds 5 and 6, despite suffering some facial damage. It seemed to be enough for him to edge his nose in front, though Aburada wasn't going to just lie down and fought valiantly in rounds 7 and 8 as he attempted to over-come the unbeaten man.
Despite a solid showing from Aburada it wasn't enough to please the judges, with two of them scoring the bout to Sakamoto, 77-75, whilst the third had the bout drawn, 76-76.
