Yesterday we reported Filipino sources had informed us that WBO Bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales (29-2, 12) would be returning to the ring in December to take on Japanese hopeful Takuma Inoue (8-0, 2) [井上 拓真]. That bout was confirmed this morning by Inoue's manager Hideyuki Ohashi.
Ohashi, along with the Inoue brothers and Satoshi Shimizu, took part in a press conference that saw the bout being confirmed by the Japanese team.
For Inoue the press conference this morning served as his chance to talk about his dreams of becoming a world champion and to talk about the style of the champion, with Takuma sounding confident of beating the champion. It should be noted however that Tapales has been creating a reputation as a road warrior and recent wins over Shohei Omori and Pungluang Sor Singyu have both been impressive victories.
Interesting WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (11-0, 9) [井上 尚弥] will also be on the card, if all injuries have healed, and stated that he wouldn't be watching Takuma's bout instead focusing on his own, but would go into his own fight with the belief that Takuma had won.
