The full details of the bout are said to still be under-wraps though some information has been released, including the figure of Algieri's purse, said to be $1,000,000. That's 10 times bigger than Algieri's previous highest pay day and anamazing figure for a fighter who was little more than a prospect just 12 months ago.
The bout will see Algieri not just stepping up in class in terms of who he is fighting but also in terms of division with the American moving to Welterweight for his opportunity. Despite that we don't imagine it will seem like Algieri has moved up in weight given that Pacquiao himself is a small Welterweight.
No purse figures have been mentioned for Pacquiao though with the Venetian Casino backing the bout money is unlikely to be bad for the "Pacman" who should continue to pick up around $20,000,000 give or take. As well as the money he will also have the chance to avenge the loss suffered by Ruslan Provodnikov who lost to Algieri earlier this year. Provodnikov and Pacquiao are both trained by the legendary Freddie Roach and both fighters are said to be somewhat friendly meaning that this bout really could be personal.
The rest of the card has yet to be announced but there is a lot of talk suggesting that we may see either Rex Tso or Zou Shiming in world title bouts in a major support bout. Both of those men however will need to win their up coming contests this Saturday to get any chance of having a world title clash by the end of the year.
