Young and unbeaten Filipino Joebert Alvarez (13-0-1, 6), pictured, has officially been announced as the next challenger for Mexico's teak tough Juan Francisco Estrada (25-2, 18), the unified WBO and WBA super champion at Flyweight.
The 24 year old Alvarez, known as "Little Pacman", is unbeaten since his debut more than 4 years ago though has never faced anyone even close to the ability of Estrada. Then again not many fighters are like Estrada who made his name by taking the best shots from Roman Gonzalez and firing back.
Although Estrada lost to Gonzalez back in 2012 he has since made a real name for himself beating both Brian Viloria and Milan Melindo to claim and defend his titles. Within 3 fights he has gone from unknown to being one of the elite Flyweights on the planet and this chance for Alvarez could well see young Filipino doing exactly the same himself.
This bout, arranged to take place in Mexico on April 19th is easily the toughest test for Alvarez but he'll know that he has nothing to lose and everything to gain and, as Estrada showed, a lot could be gained in a hard fought loss just like a lot can be gained in a well fought victory
