Earlier today Japanese fans at the Korakuen Hall got a day of ladies as Dangan gave us "Dangan Ladies 3", a full show dedicated to female boxing.
Whilst ehc ard had a number of title bouts one of the biggest stories actually involved a woman who wasn't fighting on the card. That was WBO female Minimumweight world champion Kumiko Seeser Ikehara (9-1-2, 3) [池原シーサー久美子] who officially hung up her gloves to concentrate on out of the ring activities, including being a mother.
A tearful Ikehara seemed to be aware that her retirement was a huge decision and the crowd showed their respect and admiration for the fighter who achieved success in both the amateur and professional ranks.
The 3s year old didn't have a particularly long career but claimed the world title in September 2014 and recorded 4 defenses of her belt before making the decision to walk away from the sport after around 5½ years as a professional.
