Earlier today our Thai friends informed us that it was going to be a Thai fighter battling against Japanese youngster Koki Tyson* (9-2-1, 9) [太尊 康輝] for the WBC Youth Middleweight title on April 17th.
The Thai's have informed us that the fighter facing "Tyson" will be Petchsuriya Singwancha (15-11, 8) [เพชรสุริยา สิงห์วังชา], a man that Tyson brutally stopped in 4 rounds back in November 2014.
For the Japanese 23 year old this bout is his first since being stopped, in 7 rounds, last year by the then OPBF and JBC Middleweight champion Akio Shibata. That loss was a really poor one from "Tyson" who had struggled to even take a round from the then champion, who used his movement and jab to almost control the youngster.
As for Petchsuriya this bout comes in the wake of his loss to Kerry Hope in Hong Kong last August. That bout was originally scored in favour of the Thai but the WBC, who for once did the rigth thing, reviewed the footage of the bout and over-ruled the official decision giving Petchsuriya a 12 round decision loss to the Australian based Welshman.
The bout will be the main event of a card that does look like a genuinely good one for Japanese fans at the Sumiyoshi Ward Center.
In the best of the supporting bouts Japanese based Filipino Mark John Yap (23-12, 10) will face former multi-time world title challenger Hiroyuki Hisataka (24-14-1, 10) [久高 寛之] in an exciting looking rematch, whilst support bouts will feature Masao Nakamura (21-3, 20) [仲村 正男] and the very promising Masahiro Sakamoto (6-0, 4) [坂本 真宏].
*Koki Tyson has previously gone by the names Koki Tyson Maebara, and Muhamad Tyson Koki
