Earlier today it was announced that heavy handed Middleweight hopeful Koki Tyson Maebara (7-1-1, 7) would be stepping up in a big way when he returns to the ring on April 5th.
The heavy handed 22 year old from Osaka, who won the Rookie of the Year in 2013, will be fighting against former Japanese champion Sanosuke Sasaki (11-3, 5) who won the Japanese Middleweight title in October 2012 when he stopped Tadashi Yuba.
Sadly for Sasaki his reign was short lived and he lost the title in his first defence, being stopped himself by Tomohiro Ebisu just 4 months after winning the belt. Since that loss he has fought just once, being beaten by Takehiro Shimokawara.
Although Sasaki was the Japanese champion he is best known by many for his role in Ryota Murata's "Pro-test" bout which saw Murata batter Sasaki as he proved he deserved a B class licenses.
This bout is set to main event a very interesting card at the Sumiyoshi Ward Center and we suspect a win for for Maebara will take him on to a Japanese title fight of his own later in the year.
