We've been told that the gym transfer review for former 3 division world champion Koki Kameda (32-1, 17) will be held this coming Friday with the JBC expected to allow Kameda to transfer to UNITED boxing gym and resume his career.
Koki, along with his brothers Daiki and Tomoki, has been unlicensed since earlier this year when the JBC revoked the license of the Kameda Gym following an issue with Daiki Kameda's fights against Liborio Solis. Since then none of the Kameda's have fought, which has left Koki with out a fight since his controversial victory over South Korea's Jung Oh Son from last November.
Although Tomoki will make his US debut this coming it's not expected for Koki or Daiki to follow him and fight in the US. What's expected is that the brothers will all transfer gyms with Koki leading the way, though the JBC may force the trio to each transfer to different gyms, if they all wish to continue to fight in Japan.
Of course the JBC could refuse the transfer on Friday, though it's thought to be very unlikely at this point with some suggesting it's a matter of the JBC merely crossing the t's and dotting the i's on Friday. As per always we hope to fill you in with the complete story after the review has been made.
Note-For those interested in seeing Koki's fight with Jung Oh Son we've uploaded the video here.
