Tomorrow fight fans in Japan are set for a treat as the WBA Super Flyweight "regular" and "interim" titles are unified. The bout that sees that being done will see Kohei Kono (32-8-1, 13) [河野 公平] battle the explosive Luis Concepcion (34-4, 24) in a bout that should have every fight fan excited.
Today the two men weighed in for the bout with Kono, the "regular champion", coming in at 115lbs dead on. The weight is his usual career weight, with it being what he's weighed in 3 of his last 4 and 6 of his last 8, and sees him coming to the ring in great condition. Some could argue that he was at his best against Koki Kameda, where he was slightly lighter, but there is certainly no issue with what he's weighing here.
As for Concepcion the Concepcion the other hand was 114¾lbs, one of the highest of his career. He is lighter than he was last time out, when he weighed in at 115lbs to face Hernan Marquez in their third bout, but he has fought much of his career as a Flyweight. Although one of the heaviest weights of his career it is worth noting that Concepcion was 118lbs for an early career defeat.
