Today Lara took part in his public work out for that bout, sparring 3 minutes with Pablo Carrillo, himself a former Ioka opponent, as well as working the mitts and the heavy bag.
Although the open training wasn't the most intensive it did seem like Lara did a lot of the basics really well. He certainly wasn't trying to impress those watching, and seemingly kept a lot of his tricks up his sleeve, but did seem like a fighter who understood all the basic skills.
Although a big under-dog Lara seemed confident of over-coming Ioka when the two men face off next week and suggested that he was taking the title back with him. Though he did seem wary of needing to go 12 rounds with the champion, something that he has yet to do in his professional career.
